Cafés, a bakery and a restaurant that publish breakfast

These are saved Hahndorf venues whose own site, or a Hahndorf SA listing marked as verified by the business, describes breakfast, brunch or a morning meal. The street name differs by publisher. Beerenberg says the main street is Mount Barker Road. A “Main Street” address and a “Mount Barker Road” address can be the same road. Use the number the venue publishes, then confirm it on a map.

The Haus, a Main Street restaurant

The Haus publishes breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days, from 8am until late. The contact line on that page is 38A Main Street, Hahndorf SA 5245, phone (08) 8388 7555. The saved listing on this site uses 38–40 Main Street. Use the operator’s page for the current address, menu and whether a table needs a booking. Same But Different, a breakfast café that welcomes dogs

Same But Different says it serves a breakfast and lunch menu, with coffee, and that dogs are welcome inside if they socialise with other dogs. The site also describes an outdoor area and says dogs can have a puppacino. The verified Hahndorf SA listing, which names an email on samebutdifferentcafe.com.au, gives the address as 74 Mount Barker Road, Hahndorf SA 5245, phone 0487 615 212, and calls it a family-oriented café serving local coffee, bagels, salads and homemade food. That listing’s hours are Monday to Friday 7:00am to 3:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday 7:30am to 3:00pm. The café’s own homepage, checked the same day, does not repeat those hours. Use the listing as a starting point and check with the café.

Bracegirdle’s, a chocolate café with a breakfast menu

Bracegirdle’s Hahndorf page describes a chocolate shop and café at 102 Mount Barker Road, Hahndorf SA 5245, phone 08 8296 4577. The company café menu, a March 2025 PDF, has a breakfast section that includes eggs, smashed avocado, porridge or granola, and a breakfast croissant, and it says to ask about vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. The PDF is not labelled as Hahndorf-only, so confirm the Hahndorf café is serving that menu. The Hahndorf page publishes winter hours, Monday to Friday 9:00am to 3:00pm and Saturday and Sunday 8:30am to 4:00pm, and says hours may vary with demand and extreme weather. Treat those as winter hours, not a year-round timetable.

Beerenberg Farm Café, a short walk from the main street

Beerenberg’s café page says the Farm Café is a place for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea, with sandwiches, salads, pies, cakes and pastries. It says the café is open 9am to 4pm every day except Christmas Day, and the farm shop until 5pm. It does not take bookings for casual dining. The café, dairy and farm shop are described as wheelchair friendly, and the page says no dogs, with service dogs excepted. The café page gives the address as Mount Barker Road, Hahndorf, South Australia 5245. The South Australian Tourism Commission lists 2106 Mount Barker Road, Hahndorf, phone 08 8388 7272, and says published hours may differ, so contact the business. That 300 metre figure starts at the end of the street, so a start at the other end is a longer walk.

Published hours, and the early starts

The times below are what each venue published when the pages were checked on 27 October 2026. They are not a promise for the morning you visit. A winter timetable, a Saturday line that disagrees with itself, and a directory that says “until finished” are all reasons to look again.

Dogs, children and step-free access

Same But Different is the venue in this guide that says dogs are welcome inside, if they socialise well, and that a dog can have a puppacino. Beerenberg’s café page says no dogs, with service dogs excepted. The other venues above do not state a dog rule on the pages checked. A pet-friendly room does not decide the café. Read pet-friendly accommodation in Hahndorf for stays that state a pet policy, then ask the café.

Same But Different’s verified listing calls the café family-oriented. It does not describe a playground. The tourism commission listing for Beerenberg includes Family Friendly among its facilities, and the café page says the café, dairy and shop are wheelchair friendly. Hamdorf Cafe describes coffee and café food, and a guinea pig village the operator says charms children and adults. That page does not describe a breakfast menu, so it is not listed above as a breakfast venue. Ask any venue about high chairs, allergies or a child’s meal. Bracegirdle’s menu says to ask about vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. The tourism commission says Beerenberg caters for people with allergies and intolerances. Neither line is a promise for a specific dish.

Breakfast and a morning on Main Street

Beerenberg describes Mount Barker Road as the main street, with shops and German food from the local pubs, inns and restaurants. The Haus, Brezelhaus, Same But Different, Bracegirdle’s, Cottage Cafe and Ernest Deli all publish a number on that road. Eat at one of them, then walk the street. The farm café is the extra leg: 300 metres from the end of the street, not from every front door. If the strawberry patch is the plan, read strawberry picking at Beerenberg and still check that the patch is open. The café can be open when the patch is not. Animals are not permitted in the patch or the visitor centre, except service dogs.
