We conducted checks on the 23 pages in Sources and repeat only what they state. We read the Oak Tree Cottages site and the Hill Cottage accommodation page. For example, the operator pages, such as the Oak Tree site, describe cottages for couples, and Hill Cottage states that it is self-contained. Contact the operator before you book, and read about the author for how this was checked. ⁠^{3, 2}

Which Hahndorf cottages are on, or a short walk from, Main Street?

Oak Tree Cottages are on the main street. Hill Cottage is a short walk from it. Check a map if you drive. Kleines Haus and Clifton Cottage have Hahndorf street addresses. Those two saved pages do not give a walking time. ⁠^{4, 1, 10, 16}

Hahndorf Oak Tree Cottages

The contact page says the cottages are in the heart of Hahndorf, on the main street, at 47 Mount Barker Road. The homepage describes six cottages for couples. Each has a queen bed, an ensuite, a refrigerator, a microwave and secure off-street parking. ⁠^{4, 3}

Hill Cottage Hahndorf

Hill Cottage’s homepage puts 46 Pain Road, Hahndorf, a short walk from Main Street. Check a map if you drive. It describes the stay as cottage accommodation, and it does not say that breakfast is served. ⁠¹

The accommodation page says it is fully self-contained and non-smoking, for up to four guests in three bedrooms. There is a kitchen for guests who want to do their own catering. Extra children, including an infant cot, are only by special arrangement. ⁠^{2, 9}

The saved listing uses the property type Bed and breakfasts. Its facility list includes a refrigerator, kitchenware and free parking. It does not include breakfast. This guide does not call Hill Cottage a B&B. ⁠^{9, 2}

Two more Hahndorf street addresses

Kleines Haus is at 30 Church Street, Hahndorf. The saved listing includes a kitchen, family rooms, a garden, a barbecue and free parking. It does not state a walking time to Main Street. ⁠¹⁰

Clifton Cottage’s saved record is a holiday home at 9 Auricht Road, Hahndorf, with a kitchen and free parking. It does not state a guest count or a walking time. ⁠¹⁶

Which Adelaide Hills bed and breakfasts confirm that breakfast is offered?

Two pages confirm breakfast. Fleetwood lists Breakfast options. Cladich’s rooms page lists provisions for a continental breakfast. Four other saved stays use the type Bed and breakfasts and do not list breakfast. This guide does not call those four a B&B. ⁠^{7, 5, 9, 18, 19, 21}

Fleetwood Cottage Bed and Breakfast, Mylor

Fleetwood is at 17 Hooper Road, Mylor. The saved listing includes Breakfast options, free on-site parking, a garden and private check-in. The property text describes a kitchenette, a private entrance and garden views. ⁠⁷

The host text says you have your own entrance to a private suite, plus provisions to cook your own breakfast. Check a map for the drive from the CBD. That is not a drive time from Hahndorf Main Street. ⁠⁸

Cladich Pavilions, Aldgate

Cladich’s rooms page says it offers bed and breakfast, and that the rooms include provisions for a continental breakfast. Check a map for the drive from the city centre. ⁠^{5, 6}

The Gums, The Dunes and The Billabong are different pavilions. The rooms page says each is not suitable for children or babies. Dunes and Billabong are for two adults. The homepage lists a maximum of 3 guests for The Gums, and 2 for the others. ⁠^{5, 6}

The Gums page lists a full kitchen. The Dunes page lists a microwave, a kettle, a toaster and a barbecue, not that full kitchen. The saved facility list includes Adults only and does not include breakfast. Confirm the provisions are on the pavilion you book. ⁠^{5, 12}

Saved bed-and-breakfast names that do not list breakfast

Stringybark Hills Retreat is at 81A Stock Road, Mylor. Pirralilla Estate is at 17 Arkaba Road. The Retreat at Stirling is at 9 Hoylake Avenue, Stirling. All three are saved as Bed and breakfasts. None of those facility lists includes breakfast. ⁠^{18, 19, 21}

Pirralilla’s apartments page lists a full kitchen and complimentary bread, cereals, tea and coffee. It says each apartment is for two persons, and for adult guests only. It does not call those items breakfast, so this guide does not call Pirralilla a B&B. ⁠²⁰

The Retreat’s entire-property page says booking all four apartments includes provisions for a cooked breakfast, and that inclusions may change with the season. The saved facility list does not include breakfast. Confirm you have that whole-property stay. The saved listing also says adults only. ⁠^{22, 21}

What is the difference between a hosted breakfast stay and a self-contained cottage?

A breakfast stay here is a page that says breakfast is offered. A self-contained cottage is a kitchen you use yourself, with no breakfast line. Hill Cottage, Oak Tree, Kleines Haus and Stone Gate are the kitchen stays. Fleetwood and Cladich are the breakfast stays. ⁠^{7, 5, 2, 3, 10, 13}

• Fleetwood: Breakfast options on the saved listing, and host text that says provisions to cook your own breakfast. The property text also describes a kitchenette. ⁠
• Cladich: provisions for a continental breakfast. The Gums has a full kitchen. The Dunes lists a microwave rather than that kitchen. ⁠
• Hill Cottage: a kitchen for your own catering. The operator page does not say breakfast is served. ⁠
• Oak Tree: a refrigerator and a microwave in cottages described for couples. The saved listing does not include a breakfast line. ⁠

Kleines Haus, the family cottage in the village

A mirror of the Kleines Haus listing describes two bedrooms, one bathroom and three beds, with a kitchen for cooking and storing food. The saved listing adds family rooms. It does not list breakfast. ⁠^{11, 10}

Stone Gate Cottage, 75 Strathalbyn Road, Aldgate, lists a kitchen, an oven, a refrigerator and a children’s high chair. Hoopers Cottage, 98 Strathalbyn Road, lists a toaster and a dining table, and does not list a kitchen. Neither lists breakfast, and neither states a guest count. ⁠^{13, 14, 15}

Holly Cottage is saved as a country house in Mount George. The saved record has no street, no description and no facility list, so this guide does not place it. ⁠¹⁷

Which of these stays suit a couple, and which suit a family?

Use the guest line the page actually prints. Oak Tree is described for couples. Cladich does not take children. Hill Cottage says up to four. Kleines Haus lists family rooms, two bedrooms and three beds. Stone Gate lists a high chair and does not state a guest count. ⁠^{3, 5, 6, 2, 11, 13}

What should I confirm before I book a cottage or a B&B?

Confirm the unit, whether breakfast is on that unit, who may stay, and the street. A property type that says bed and breakfast is the catalogue label. It is not proof that breakfast is offered. ⁠^{9, 5, 7}

• The unit name. Cladich’s Gums, Dunes and Billabong are different rooms. The Retreat’s cooked-breakfast line is on the entire-property page. ⁠
• Breakfast. Fleetwood lists Breakfast options. Cladich lists continental provisions on its own site, not on the saved facility list. Hill Cottage does not say breakfast is served. ⁠
• Who stays. Cladich is not suitable for children. Pirralilla’s apartments page says two adults. Hill Cottage says four guests unless you arrange extra children. ⁠
• The street on the confirmation. Cladich’s operator page and its saved listing do not print the same house number. ⁠
• Parking. Oak Tree, Hill Cottage, Fleetwood and Kleines Haus each list parking on the property. Main-street parking is a separate question. ⁠
• Pets and spa baths, on the other stays guides. This page does not choose a stay for either. ⁠

Hill Cottage’s operator says guest pets cannot be accommodated. Kleines Haus’s listing mirror says pets are allowed. For an animal, start with pet-friendly accommodation in Hahndorf. For a spa bath or a hot tub, start with Adelaide Hills accommodation with a spa bath. Neither question leads this shortlist. ⁠^{2, 11}

How do I get to these cottages and B&Bs?

Hahndorf is about 28 km south-east of Adelaide on the South Eastern Freeway. Check a map for the drive. Oak Tree is on the main street in that village. Hill Cottage is the short walk from it. Mylor, Aldgate, Stirling and Bridgewater are a drive on from that pin. ⁠^{23, 4, 1}

After the unit is confirmed, use places to stay for other saved properties, and breakfast in Hahndorf if the cottage has no breakfast. Spa baths and pet rules are on their own guides, linked above. The Hills addresses are a drive. Car hire is the page for a car from Adelaide. ⁠
