That is the run on Adelaide Metro’s timetable from the first city stop to Stop 54 or 55. 2

The ride back to the city varies with the stops the bus makes, and the town association says the drive from Adelaide is 28 kilometres. Check a map for that drive. The bus is the slower of the two because it is the stopping service. This page does not print a clock time. 2, 11

How do you pay for the bus to Hahndorf?

You cannot pay cash, the driver does not sell a ticket, and Adelaide Metro buses are cashless. 7, 8

  • A metroCARD. Adelaide Metro says you can buy or recharge one from retailers, the InfoCentre at Adelaide Railway Station, or online.
  • Tap and Pay: tap a Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or a phone, on the yellow validator.
  • The Adelaide Metro Buy & Go app.

7, 8

Tap on only. There is no tap off. Adelaide Metro says Tap and Pay is a regular fare, not a concession, and that it stays valid from the first tap. Transfers on that same card or phone are allowed. One Tap and Pay ticket works per card or device, so a second adult needs their own. 7, 9

This guide does not print a frequency or a clock time. 6, 10

Catch the city-bound 801 or T801 from the opposite side of Mt Barker Road, because you do not stand at the same pole you arrived at. 2

Towards the city the bus runs Glen Osmond Road, then Pulteney Street, Grenfell Street, Currie Street, North Terrace and the Royal Adelaide Hospital. T801 is still a weekday bus on the way back. 2

If the plan includes a drink, the bus is the simpler way back. The Hahndorf pubs guide matches a pub to the visit. Do not plan to drive after that.

Is a tour or a hire car easier than the bus?

The 801 is the direct public bus when you can walk from Mt Barker Road. A tour is easier when you want a pickup and you do not want to drive after a tasting. A hire car is easier with luggage, a group, or stops that are not on the bus route. 2, 10, 11
