Canberra to Adelaide flights, then Hahndorf

Canberra is the city these flights leave. Adelaide Airport is where Virgin Australia says they land. Hahndorf is the next town from the airport. Qantas lists Adelaide as a direct destination. Both places use daylight saving on the same Sundays, so the gap between the clocks does not flip.

In short

  • Qantas lists Adelaide as a direct destination from Canberra. On that list, Hobart is marked seasonal and Adelaide is not. Virgin Australia publishes a Canberra to Adelaide page and says you land at Adelaide Airport.
  • ACT standard time is 10 hours ahead of UTC, and summer time is one hour ahead of that. The ACT government says daylight saving there is the same as in South Australia. Virgin lists Adelaide as GMT+9:30, so the gap stays 30 minutes.
  • From Adelaide Airport, a hire car or the bus can continue to Hahndorf. The Hahndorf exit is signposted, and the town page points drivers to the parking at the far end of the main street.

What we found

Two airlines publish Canberra to Adelaide, and the gap between the clocks stays put. We conducted checks on the 8 pages in Sources and repeat only what they state. For example, Virgin Australia says the flights land at Adelaide Airport. Both places start daylight saving on the same Sundays. Contact the page named in Sources if a detail has changed. Read more about the author. 1, 2, 5, 4

  • If you are checking a direct route, choose the Qantas list or the Virgin Australia route page.
  • If the ticket already shows both local times, choose that pair and do not adjust the gap a second time.
  • If you are leaving the airport for the Hills, choose a hire car or the bus.

On that Qantas list, Hobart is marked as a seasonal service from Canberra. Adelaide is not. The page is a destination list, not a count of flights and not a timetable. It does not say which day your flight runs. 1

Adelaide Airport’s airline contacts page lists Qantas, Qantas Link and Virgin Australia. It also lists Jetstar. That is a contact list. It does not say which of those airlines fly from Canberra, and it does not assign a terminal. 3

Virgin’s route page prints fares and an average flight time, and it says the time is a guide only. This guide does not copy the fares or that time. Read the page for your own date if you need the figure. 2

You can open the flights page. It lists Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. It does not list Canberra. The button below opens Kiwi.com. It does not fill in Canberra, and it does not open a Canberra to Adelaide results page.

Where do Canberra flights for Hahndorf land?

They land at Adelaide Airport. Virgin says Canberra to Adelaide flights use Adelaide Airport, and that the airport is 6 kilometres from the Adelaide city centre. Hahndorf has no airport of its own. 2

The Hills leg starts after you leave that terminal. Visit Adelaide Hills says the Hahndorf exit on the South Eastern Freeway is signposted. The town page says to follow the signs to Hahndorf, then use the parking at the far end of the main street and walk the village. 6, 7

Why does the time difference between Canberra and Adelaide stay the same?

It stays the same because both places use daylight saving. The ACT government says daylight saving in the ACT is the same as in South Australia. The clocks go forward one hour, then back, on the shared Sundays. Canberra does not stay still while Adelaide moves. 4, 5

The Standard Time and Summer Time Act 1972 (ACT) sets standard time at 10 hours ahead of coordinated universal time. During a summer time period, summer time is one hour ahead of that standard. The period runs from the first Sunday in October to the first Sunday in the following April, unless the Minister declares a different period. 4

The Act and the ACT government page both name the hour the clocks move. This guide does not copy that hour. The useful part is the pair of Sundays, and the fact that South Australia is on the same arrangement. 4, 5

Is Adelaide ahead of or behind Canberra?

Adelaide is 30 minutes behind Canberra in both halves of the year. Virgin’s route page lists Adelaide as GMT+9:30. ACT standard time is 10 hours ahead of UTC, which is 30 minutes further ahead. Both places then add the daylight-saving hour, so the gap does not change direction. 4, 2, 5

This page was checked on 31 October 2026. That date sits after the first Sunday in October and before the first Sunday in April, so it falls in the summer-time half. On the day of this check, Adelaide is still 30 minutes behind Canberra. 4, 5

Your booking shows a Canberra departure and an Adelaide arrival. Read each as local time at that airport. Set your phone, and any car pickup at Adelaide Airport, by Adelaide time. Do not subtract the half hour a second time if the ticket already shows both local times. 2, 4

Can you land at Adelaide Airport and reach Hahndorf the same day?

Yes, if you leave time for bags and for the pickup. Visit Adelaide Hills publishes a driving time from Adelaide Airport and says the Hahndorf exit is signposted. The town page also publishes a driving time from Adelaide and says to follow the freeway signs. This guide does not copy either time. 6, 7, 2

The half-hour gap is small next to the flight and the road leg. It does not decide whether you reach the village on the day you land. Bags, the pickup and the signposted exit do. 5, 6

Frequently asked questions

Is there an airport in Hahndorf?

No. Canberra flights for this trip land at Adelaide Airport. Virgin says that airport is 6 kilometres from the Adelaide city centre, and that Canberra to Adelaide flights land there. Hahndorf has no airport of its own. The town page then starts from the freeway signs and the parking at the far end of the main street.

Does the flights button search Canberra to Adelaide?

No. The flights button opens the flight search site’s homepage. It does not fill in Canberra, and it does not open a Canberra to Adelaide results page. You still choose the cities and the dates there. The flights page on this site lists Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. It does not list Canberra. This guide does not print a fare.

Does the Adelaide Airport airline list mean Jetstar flies from Canberra?

No. Adelaide Airport’s airline contacts page lists Jetstar, and it also lists Qantas, Qantas Link and Virgin Australia. That page is a contact list. It does not say which city pairs those airlines fly, and it does not assign Jetstar to Canberra. For the city pair, use the Qantas network list and the Virgin Australia route page.

Where should you park once you reach Hahndorf?

The Hahndorf town page says parking is available along the main street, and it recommends the parking at the far end of the street so you can walk the village. Follow the freeway signs to Hahndorf. This guide does not copy a driving time from the town page or from the Adelaide Hills page.

What should you not copy off the airline and clock pages?

The Virgin Australia route page prints fares and an average flight time, and it says the time is a guide only. The ACT pages name the hour the clocks move. This guide copies none of those. Use the network list, the Adelaide Airport landing, and the half-hour gap, then check your own date on the airline page.

The flights page is the hub for Adelaide arrivals. The Getting to Hahndorf hub collects the ground guides. Without a car, read Adelaide Airport to Hahndorf without a car. With a car, read Adelaide Airport car hire for Hahndorf.
